July / August snow at Barrington Tops - fun for all..
Barrington
Tops peaks are the highest point in Australia to drive your car. At
1500m the temperature is 10 degrees colder than Gloucester, the nearest
town, so July and August are good months for snow.
Track
the brumbies across The Tops, the kids love every minute making snow
men and trying to identify the different footprints found in the snow.
The
Tops Organic Retreat restaurant is a beautiful timber lodge with a huge
blazing log fire and tremendous food, organic of course. All the cabins
and cottages have log fires, spa baths and beautiful cottage kitchens,

Baby koala born at The Tops -
National Tree Day 29th July plant your own koala tree and watch it grow.
Koalas
in the wild are finding it harder to survive. This week a baby koala on
mums back has been spotted just 500 m from the Tops Retreat.
Guests have been delighted to spot these special animals in their
native habitat and we feel very privileged to have a small family
living here. With much of the koalas home range disappearing through
logging, motorways and the encroachment of housing estates, these
animals need our help. We will plant a tree that a koala enjoys eating
for every person who 'likes' us on facebook .
You will be helping to grow the koala population at the World Heritage Barrington Tops and helping your environment.

| Relax in front of a real log fire |
Just back from 5 nights at The Tops Organic Retreat. Our hosts were
excellent, John, Sharini and their staff are friendly, knowledgeable
and very helpful. It really is a get away from it all experience,
beautiful scenery, lots of walks, playing by the creek, petting
animals.
The Retreat is well equipped with a tennis court, pool and trampoline for the children. Our 10 and 7 year old had a super time.
Evenings were
spent round the fire with games, books, organic juice for the children,
and good wine and a cold beer for the grown ups. The dinners are
magnificent, a real highlight of the trip, the children's meals were
just right and the Sri Lankan curries were superb. The focus on fresh,
quality ingredients is clear. Highly recommended!
